The events surrounding the 2020 election represented a challenging moment for American democracy. During the isolation of the pandemic, I found myself watching as women across various spheres—politics, education, public service, and civic life—stepped forward with courage and conviction.


I began photographing them directly from the television screen as they appeared, capturing these women who were risking their careers, reputations and even their lives, to speak truth and serve the public good.
